3 Simple Ways to be Happy, according to 100 psychologists

There was a time when we were younger, of course a time, when we always wanted to be astronauts, scientists, doctors and presidents and much more. Now as we grow older, we understand the value of happiness, we realise that there is nothing more important than being happy. Simple enough, no!!! Yes it is.
As Annie Dillard writes in her book "The Writing Life",
"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."
Eric Zimmer understands this better than anyone. For his podcast titled The one you feed, Zimmer talks to more than 100 psychologists, mindfulness teachers and life coaches about how to overcome fear and foster happiness. He found that there are three simple strategies that everyone can immediately deploy to become happier today. As Zimmer says: "We have a choice in our lives, in our behaviour and in our thoughts, as to what we want to focus on and what type of people we want to be."
So, let's have a look on these three strategies you can get started with immediately, to become happier.

1. Meditate

Sounds like it values nothing, but even if it's just for two or three minutes a day, a daily meditation practise helps you to be more present and aware of your thoughts. By meditating consistently, it will help you to prevent your mind from working in autopilot. It helps. Zimmer says:
" Happiness is predicating on being aware. It's important to start training that muscle. Meditation has recently seen a breakthrough in the field of neuroscience. Various studies have proven its benefit on our mental and physical health.
Daily meditation can help reduce stress, control anxiety, and even reduce age-related memory loss. But most importantly, it helps us achieve a "happy-state" by promoting emotional health, enhancing self-awareness, and helping us generate kindness.

2. Set Phone Alarms to fight automatic scrolling.

Did you know that, Twitter, Facebook and other social media apps design their feeds to keep you scrolling. Amazed by the fact, well so am I. You see, YouTube, Netflix and Facebook set up auto-play of videos when you've finished with one video to keep you in the app. "We have a natural desire to distract ourselves with our phones, which is not always a bad thing, but you should be consuming something you care about." Zimmer says. " The more we are conscious about how we spend our time and do things that matter to us, the more content we will be."
You can become more happier by setting up alarms that limit how long you use Facebook and other apps for. Studies have shown that when people limit the amount of time they use Facebook, they become happier. According to researchers, people spend less time on social media experienced reduced depression and loneliness. Trust me, this little trick can change how you spend your time on a daily basis. The less time you spend comparing your life to others, the better. Remember, comparison may bring a sort of competitive spirit in a short run but ultimately, it results in nothing nut jealousy.

3. Play the alphabet game to derail ruminating thoughts.

Zimmer recommended the alphabet game for people who find themselves with lots of negative and ruminating thoughts. Start with the letter A, and name something you appreciate that begins with the letter. Then move to B, and keep going until you get to Z. The game takes a while, but it will help you break free from unhealthy thoughts.
"It brings your brain back and can be more effective than just positive thinking. The puzzle aspect helps gratitude stick more."

BLOG #1 - THE BIG BANG - COSMIC BEGINNINGS

Accepted astrophysical theories posit that at one point there was nothing: no stars, planets or galaxies - not even the space itself. The matter that makes up everything that now exists was concentrated in a single, extremely dense point known as a singularity. The force of gravity in a singularity is so great that the fabric of space time curves in on itself. In an instant known as the big bang, however, the contents of the primordial singularity escaped - and formed the universe.                The big bang is a catchy shorthand for a complex astrophysical theory, backed up with sophisticated calculations. The term was coined in the 1950s by British astronomer Fred Boyle, a proponent of a theory of the universe as a steady state. In fact, Boyle used the term derisively. Though the name stuck, it gives a false impression, making it seem as though the event that unleashed all the energy of the universe almost 14 billion years ago was an e...

Some Special(yet some common) Things to START BELIEVING in yourself AGAIN - PART 5

...to be continued. 13) Accept your emotions without judging them You all know what, you will agree to this. Emotions are very big players, both against and with us. Whenever we experience an uncomfortable feeling, such as sadness, fear or anger, our first instinct is to ignore it, reject it or push it away. And this fair enough, we don’t really want to walk around feeling emotional pain all the time. Emotions give us useful information about our lives. It’s understanding that you don’t need to “control” your emotions. They cannot do any damage to you.  This means allowing your emotions to just be without negatively judging them or trying to change them. 14) Get rid of these 5 toxic beliefs Your beliefs and thoughts shape the perspective of your life. The way you think, interpret and react to a situation depends on your beliefs that matter for you.  But if your beliefs aren’t accurate, they could be negatively affecting you. Here are some beliefs that may sabotage our life: i....

Questions that question YOU from YOU - PART 1

Sometimes we get too caught up in our every day lives that we tend to forget one of our most basic instincts as humans — to question. And our lives have indeed become so easy and so simple, that we never get curious anymore. Thanks to the tech, obviously. After all, we are i the 21st century. So, in this piece for you, I've got some questions to make you spark the plugs into your grey matter.(not the GRAY matter,  its the grey matter) Now what's the grey matter first ? Grey  matter  contains most of the brain's neuronal cell bodies. The grey  matter  includes regions of the brain involved in muscle control, and sensory perception such as seeing and hearing, memory, emotions, speech, decision making, and self-control. Enough for the intro, I guess. So, here are the questions. Q. Why do we all FEAR death ? Q. What is REALITY ? Q. Is our SOCIETY teaching us the WRONG things ? Q. Is TIME only a concept made by humans ? Is it something we RESTRICT ourselves with ? Q....
